Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye

Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye는 조세프 B. 조헤건(영어: Joseph B. Geoghegan)이 1867년 영국 런던에서 작사하고 발표한 곡이다. 다만, 원곡 자체는 그 이전인 18세기 후기나 19세기 전기 즈음 아일랜드에서 작곡된 것으로 보인다. 이 당시 영국과 캔디 왕국(kingdom of kandy)(현재 스리랑카에 위치한 나라)은 1795년 부터 1818년까지 전잰중이었다는 시대상황과 가사 내용에 비추어 보면 반전가요로서의 성격을 지니고 있다.

오래된 곡이다보니 저작권이 풀려 곡은 같으면서 가사만 다른 곡들이 상당히 많고, 가사 자체도 변형이 많다. 1863년 남북전쟁 당시 써진 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home'이 그러하고, '개미들의 행진'(영어: The Ants Go Marching One By One, The Ants came Marching)이 대표적이다. 대한민국에서는 '빙빙 돌아라'라는 번안곡으로 유명하다. 그리고 인터넷에서는 향토적인(?) 가사를 지닌 '후라이 똥튀김송'으로도 유명하다.

70, 80년대 시위에서 '훌라송'이라는 이름으로 불리기도 하였다. 시위때마다 그때그때 상황에 맞춰 개사되어 불려졌고, 대통령 이름이 들어가는 경우도 흔했다. 5·18광주민주화운동 당시 불렸던 것은 '정의가'라는 별칭이 있었다. 부산 고은 사진미술관은 5월 18일부터 7월 31일까지 5·18광주민주화운동 33주년을 맞아 기획전으로 '그날의 훌라전'을 열기도 했다.
